The end of winter…

…is different than the beginning of winter. That is, the bright cold, the leafless trees and the snow (however beautiful it may be) have begun to wear me down. So that’s why I’m all holed up these days, scurrying back home after work, in order to stay warm and cozy indoors. The good thing, though, about being an indoors girl these past weeks is that I’ve been making and concocting a lot of things. Most especially getting everything lined up for the Equinox Box. Here’s a few pics of what I’ve been up to:

Imagine…

It’s still cold and snowy here in New England, but we know in another month or so we will start seeing the first signs of spring. Certainly, I enjoy the hibernating time of winter and use it as a chance to rest and reflect, but I’ve also been daydreaming lately of the return of the green, and of longer days, and of stronger sun…

In the meantime, though, I’ve been putting together an idea that I’ve had for a while, and that will be debuted on the first day of spring of this year, March 20th. There will be more details to follow as the time nears, but the idea is this:

I am making an Equinox Box. It will contain several herbal-based items, such as a tea, a cleansing tincture,  a few Flowerfolk skin care items, live herb seedlings, and an herb-filled dream pillow made by a lovely friend. All of this in time for some spring cleansing, and to prepare us to emerge from the winter months. The purpose behind it is to get people to use herbs more often in their everyday lives, and to become familiar with and knowledgeable about common plants that can be used to improve our well-being, balance and health.  Herbs are the people’s medicine; interacting with – and respectfully partaking of – the botanical world is our birthright. They feed our bodies and nurture our spirits. It is my hope that this Equinox Box will do just that. I will send out more specific details and images soon. How does that sound to you?
